Edição #5 do Projeto Calendário
O artista europeu Franco Angeloni é o próximo convidado para o Projeto Calendário do Pparalelo de Arte Contemporânea.
O artista italiano Franco Angeloni integra o projeto Calendário em sua quinta edição a ser inaugurada na próxima quarta-feira, dia 25 de novembro na vitrine do ATQG do Grupo Pparalelo de Arte Contemporânea.
Intitulada Red Wrapping paper flying over trash and an anonymous man witnessing this colorful event título que pode ser traduzido por: “Papel de embrulho vermelho voando sobre o lixo e um homem anônimo testemunhando esse evento colorido” traz uma bela imagem fotográfica selecionada a partir das constantes visitas que faz o artista à Bangkok.
Franco vive atualmente na Holanda, porém viaja constantemente entre a Europa e o Oriente. Seus outros dois endereços certos, que lhe oferecem também fonte de variada inspiração são a Itália e a Tailândia.
O trabalho apresentado no Projeto Calendário nos traz uma paisagem insólita construída pela mistura de monumentos orientais sagrados rodeados pelo descarte dos acúmulos urbanos da atualidade. O clima construído pela imagem nos leva à reflexão sobre o peso e importância da memória, dos cultos, da globalização e do consumo pelo planeta. Sua proposição estética pretende ainda evidenciar o elemento decorativo da cor nos variados cantos desse cenário que surpreende também pela desconstrução mítica do exotismo com o qual identificamos o oriente. Joga com o jovem homem que o acompanha nesse dia do encontro com a cena e com quem conversa sobre o lixo e os monumentos para concluírem numa conversa rápida a possível relação entre as sobras e o banquete promovido pelos habitantes desses monumentos.
Essa série fotográfica foi iniciada por Angeloni em 2008. As saídas que constrói para seu trabalho variam dentre fotografia, instalação artística, intervenções urbanas e objetos que tem em comum certo senso crítico dos materiais e imagens cotidianas quando ressemantizadas para o sistema artístico.
Esse não é o primeiro projeto do artista com o Grupo Pparalelo. Angeloni já participou de projetos coletivos anteriores, também expostos nessa sala de vitrine, como o projeto Escaparate, realizado em novembro de 2008.
A 5ª edição do Projeto Calendário é a única que apresenta um artista externo ao grupo Pparalelo. É também a penúltima da Série que se finalizará com o trabalho da artista Dorothea Freire. A bela imagem de Angeloni, com sua dimensão de (2,10 x 2,60m) fica em exposição entre 26 de novembro e 16 de dezembro.
Como sempre, o objetivo é alcançar o público passante do bairro Cambuí da rua, para que possam conhecer novas estratégias visuais de exposição contemporâneas. This photograph comes from a series that I made during a year time in and outside of the city of Bangkok. Each of them has a relationship with the upper and the underworlds.
“Red wrapping paper flying over trash and an anonymous man witnessing this colourful event” happens to be one that I took on a sunny day when someone, out of this brand new family that I “built” around myself, invited me to go for a drive in the country side.
In the car, that day, we were respectively: A woman in her 30’s, a woman in her 40’s, (the driver), a woman in her 60’s, a young boy aged 5 and me.
It took us about two hours to drive out of the city and by the time we entered this large property, after zigzagging through an undetermined number of small roads surrounded by rice fields, it was already noon. Everyone got out of the car and with relentless pace headed on walking to the main building, which was standing with open doors in the middle of a fenced yard.
The young boy did not follow the group and walked around the yard in search of something to entertain himself, something that he soon found. Suddenly in front of his eyes a large concrete platform appeared. Upon it and scattered all over forming a rigid composition, numerous rocket-shaped monuments were standing. The monuments emanated with their upstanding posture a rather serious and frightening force but, the colorfulness with which they were decorated gave them all a sense of playfulness. It looked as if an abstract multiplied authority, without any specific active intentions, had been set there for ruling in a silent and motionless jungle.
At the edge of this speechless show tons of debris and rubbles and rest of human waste were dispersed, perhaps waiting for a disposal process that only nature would have been able to perform. I stood a few meters from this scene and just as many meters from the boy.
It was right at that moment that the young boy, standing in front of this odd horizon asked me abruptly:
“Why is all this trash surrounding these beautiful tombs Mr. Ulter”.
I answered in an awkward way, not knowing what exactly to say and trying to be as ironic as I could:
“Oh yes, that is trash. The leftovers by the dead living underground who had dinner last night and did not bother to clean up soon after”.
He replied with a freezing remark that only a child can make:
“So, you mean to say that all the trash that we see back in the city every day is produced by the dead people who live under it?”.
Without giving him a proper answer I took him by the end and draw him away from that divine scene. We joined back with the others, boarded all into the car and in a speechless drive we rolled the car wheels back again towards the crowded city.
Later on that night I found myself walking silently on the roof of an inhabited underworld.
